Esteemed Delegates, Honorable Advisors, and Distinguished Guests,
Welcome to WUMUNS XIX! I’m honored to be one of the first to welcome you to this year’s conference. For nearly two decades, WUMUNS has been a premier high school Model United Nations conference that brings together delegates from across the nation to WashU’s campus for spirited debate and diplomacy. We’re excited to announce that WUMUNS XIX will showcase unique committees, our deeply rooted connection to St. Louis, and a commitment to bringing a one-of-a-kind experience to delegates.
Part of what has made WUMUNS so special is its focus on crisis committees. From Barbie to Hunger Games, we deliver innovative and imaginative crisis committees like no other. We believe that the spirit of Model United Nations should guide these scenarios as they often depict negotiations and solutions for problems in the real world. Your USGs and I are excited for you to immerse yourselves in these creative committees.
Beyond the conference, WUMUNS deeply aligns with WashU’s commitment to the Gateway City. This is the first year that WUMUNS will feature programming directly in the city, providing opportunities for delegates to engage with the history and culture of St. Louis. Our Secretariat encourages delegates and advisors to participate in these experiences, helping us to continue these initiatives for future conferences.

As we begin our preparations for the fall, please know that the Secretariat team is hard at work. We are dedicating the months ahead to thoughtfully crafting background guides that are both accessible and challenging, coordinating logistics to ensure a seamless experience for visiting schools, and planning programming that reflects the high standards our delegates deserve. WUMUNS XIX represents not only the continuation of a proud tradition but also an opportunity to shape the next chapter of our symposium.
